International Opportunities

Spend four weeks learning about the Innovation process in one of North America's most beautiful and dynamic cities: Quebec City.

Startup Fuze is an intensive 4-week, 6-credit program that guides you through a process of innovation and creation.  You will be surrounded by highly successful innovators from across the world, who will share critical knowledge related to things like ideation, design, storytelling, product design and testing, business model generation, raising money, pitching, effective presentations, marketing and more.

Students spend the first week in Montmorency Forest campus, the largest research forest in the world.  The campus is equipped with residence rooms, a cafeteria and teaching classrooms.  Students will have a great time there getting to know each other.  They will then spend the remaining weeks in the city working on their projects with the help of local and international professors, entrepreneurs and other mentors.

  • May 28 - June 26
Academic Requirements
  • Students must have a 2.8 GPA and at least 60 hours completed
  • Must be full time undergraduate student currently.  This program is open to students from any discipline who have the desire to create and innovate.
Courses

Students will receive 6 credit hours.  The Startup Fuze program meets the 3 credit hour major elective requirement for Entrepreneurship majors and it meets 6 credit hours for Entrepreneurship minors.

Financial Information
  • $2250 Canadian Program Fee which includes: accommodations(downtown residence), breakfast, lunch, transportation to field trips, week at the Montmorency Forest, Welcome and Graduation receptions, health insurance and internet connection.
  • Airfare and Kent State University tuition (6 hours) is not included in the Canadian Program Fee.
  • You should be prepared to have an additional $500-$1,000 for expenses not covered such as free weekend travels and dinners.
  • Students will stay in downtown housing and take their courses at Université Laval's downtown campus in Quebec City's startup hub, the St Roch District.  Students are responsible for suppers, which can be cooked in the residence or purchased at local restaurants.

Passport

All participants are required to have a valid U.S. passport. Students are responsible for applying for and obtaining their own passport. For application information, please consult http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html for more information.

Health Insurance

Travel health insurance is mandatory. This expense is included in your fees.

Flight Arrangements

Students are responsible for arranging their own flights to and from Quebec City. If students are interested in booking as a group to travel together, an advisor can assist in this process.

Excursions

Visit the National Assembly, an aluminum smelter, high and low tech business as well as sightseeing excursions including whale watching at the mouth of the Saguenay River.
