Design Study Tour to Spain 2014

Dates: May 13 - 25, 2014

Organized by Terrence L. Uber, PhD, of the Interior Design Program, the design tour will visit the cities of Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao – exploring the urban landscapes with visits to major museums, iconic landmarks and walking tours of neighborhoods dating from medieval times to the present.

The heritages of Castilian in Madrid, Catalonian in Barcelona and Basque in Bilbao provide interesting contrasts within the country.

The tour is open to all students in the University who will have junior status or above at the end of the spring semester, 2014.  It is a variable 1-3 credit hour study tour.  All current students must enroll for a minimum of 1 credit hour.  The course will be cross-listed with Interior Design – ID44527 Study Tour and Architecture – ARCH46992 Field Study. Details of possible sights to be visited.

Alumni and other participants will be assessed an administrative fee as a tax-deductible contribution to the CAED Foundation equal to 1 credit hour of tuition ($447).

The estimated tour cost is $3,700, including RT airfare from Cleveland, escorted private coach transportation, double-occupancy accommodations with private bath, breakfast daily, and admission to all museums/venues.  This cost does not include tuition, administrative fee, or the international health/travel insurance required by Kent State University.

Applications with program deposit due before November 30th, 2013. Applications received after November 30th, 2013 are subject to price increases.   Additional information on pricing and due dates.
