Combined Master of Technology/PhD in Education

The Master of Technology/Ph.D. in Education track provides a smooth transition from the Master’s degree to the Ph.D. degree.

Who should apply?
This special track suites students with a technical background who are interested in getting a Master of Technology (MTEC) degree and a higher degree.  Those students who intend to work in the areas of technical training in industry, and instructional technology (curriculum development, using technology in delivering curricula etc.) in educational institutes (secondary or post-secondary) should consider this program.

Admission
Students may apply for admission to the Ph.D. program in College of Education, Health and Human Services as soon as they complete 23 credits in the MTEC program.

A minimum of “B” for each core course in MTEC curriculum is required.  Students meeting this requirement demonstrate competencies in areas of project management, written communication and research methodology.

Admission to the Ph.D. program is dependent upon successful completion of the MTEC program.  Applicants must meet all admission criteria for the Ph.D. program established by the College and Graduate School of Education, Health, and Human Services and the Educational Psychology/Instructional Technology program.  Admission may be conditional, based on those criteria.

As a prerequisite for beginning the Ph.D. program, applicants will complete nine credit hours of coursework in Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology as specified by the Educational Psychology/Instructional Technology program.
