A degree in anthropology gives you a strong liberal arts background combnined with an awareness and understanding of ethnic and cultural differences and similarities-- skills sought after by businesses worldwide. An anthropology degree from Kent State University can open the door for a career in academia, with a museum, as a documentary filmmaker, in a government agency, as a research analyst, in the field of sustainable development and much more.

Kent State University’s Anthropology department has a team of faculty experienced in three disciplines of anthropology: archaeology, cultural anthropology and biological anthropology. Our courses are taught in our well-equipped and configured Lowry Hall facility. We have two small seminar rooms, a 40-seat teaching classroom and a 140-seat auditorium available for standard courses. There is also a teaching lab for undergraduate courses focusing on analytical and laboratory methods. A computer lab with up to date statistical software is available for graduate students and Anthropology majors.

The Department of Anthropology at Kent State University offers both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees, a minor in Anthropology as well as three LER’s, three writing intensive courses, and seven courses that meet University Diversity course standards. Students accepted into the M.A. program focus on one of the three fields. Biological anthropology students can earn a Ph.D. in the Biomedical Sciences, Biological Anthropology Program.
