Curriculum & Residency

Podiatric Medicine Curriculum

The podiatric medical curriculum is very challenging, yet the learning environment at KSUCPM is conducive to student success. The curriculum consists of two components: the basic sciences and the clinical sciences. The basic sciences make up the first two years of study at KSUCPM; however, you will have the opportunity to spend some time in the Cleveland Foot and Ankle Clinic within your first two years of education.

The basic sciences curriculum is a combination of didactic and laboratory coursework that emphasizes lower extremity.  The basic sciences curriculum will provide a student with the understanding of many systemic functions of the human body and how the foot and lower extremity are impacted.

The clinical sciences curriculum is a combination of formal coursework, clinical rotations and clerkships. 3rd year students will spend the majority of their time at the Cleveland Foot and Ankle Clinic and various area hospitals, including the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, the Veterans Affairs Hospital, and St. Vincent Charity Hospital. Students will participate in rotations in General Medicine, Orthopedics, Podiatric Medicine, and Surgery.
