2015 Golf Outing

The Diversity Advisory Board and  the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)  are excited to announce the return of the 3rd Tee Up For Scholarships golf outing fundraiser. This year's event will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Windmill Lakes Golf Course, Ravenna, Ohio.

It's not often that you have the chance to change lives. How do we do it? We do it with your help. As we prepare for this upcoming event, we are looking to local businesses and community members to become sponsors.

Sponsorship opportunities include a range of corporate levels. Please note enclosed details as outlined on the enclosed sponsorship opportunities page. Funds raised through sponsorships, registration fees and individual donors will support two annual scholarships for students from underrepresented or underserved populations. A focus will be on students in the final years of their bachelor's degree who require financial assistance in order to continue on to graduation. Additional event details can be found on our website at www.kent.edu/diversity/golf.

Providing sponsorship support will enable the Kent State University to attract and retain promising high-caliber students as they persist though graduation to fulfillment of their career objectives.  A strategic goal of the university is to promote student excellence by opening the door for students who need assistance to pursue a higher education. Scholarships are the key to achieving these goals.

The need is obvious. Financial demands on students are significantly different from even a decade ago. Pell Grants and other government aid no longer cover the cost of a college education. This is especially true in Ohio, where public support for higher education ranks 47th among the 50 states. Put another way, for every five days a student attends a public institution in Ohio, four of those days are paid for by the student.

Higher education is an investment not only in a student, but also in the future of our society. Please join me on May 18 at Windmill Lakes for this fun and life-changing event for promising students and our future leaders.

You will make a difference and your support will change lives!
