KSU ATP Alumni Scholarship

The ATP faculty and staff would like to take this opportunity to update you on some exciting changes and growth in the program. We have recently opened our newly renovated classroom and lab spaces in the 221/222 suite of the MACC Annex. The ATP has also undergone some growth in terms of student numbers as our sophomore class is holding strong with twenty- five students. Our hope is to continue to recruit, admit and retain approximately twenty-five students per class making us a program with seventy-five students in the professional phase. This recent growth has also necessitated increased faculty support.  Dr. Lisa Chinn is now in her second year as a tenure-track faculty member and is establishing her lab and research line in chronic ankle instability.  The program has also undergone other changes as Dr. Kimberly Peer has stepped aside after 13 years as the the ATP Program Coordinator and Mr. Jeff Huston has assumed the role of Undergraduate and Graduate Program Coordinator.  Ms. Ashley Reed has assumed Mr. Huston's previous role as Clinical Education Coordinator.
One of our important initiatives is to re-establish the athletic training scholarship fund. Our goal is to garner donations that would allow us to give a $500 award to a worthy professional phase student each year. We are working closely with the advancement office in the college of Education, Health and Human Services to create an endowed scholarship account. We would like to invite each of you to consider a small donation to this endeavor that will help foster the education of both current and future Kent State ATP students.
Our current short-term goal is to garner approximately $1,000 dollars in order to be able to give this award during the Spring 2014 semester. However, in the long term our goal is to establish this fund as a fully endowed scholarship, which requires $25,000 to ensure that the scholarship carries on for generations to come. At this juncture, 50% of any donations would be put towards allocating the award in the upcoming semester and the other 50% would be appropriated to reach the stated endowment mark.
We are offering the following donation levels and would like to encourage everyone to consider a gift no matter how small in order to help support our future Athletic Trainers:
  • ATSA Level $5
  • Practicum I Level $10
  • Practicum II Level $15
  • Practicum III Level $20
  • Practicum IV Level $25
  • Internship Level $30
  • Graduate Assistant Level $40
  • Faculty Level $50
  • Clinical Coordinator Level $75
  • Program Coordinator Level $100
On behalf of the faculty and students of the KSU ATP, we thank you for your support.  Please contact Mr. Jay Jonas at if you should have any questions or would like further information regarding the donation process.

*Please note that the scholarship can also be fully endowed and named with a donation or donations that collectively meet the endowment mark
