Outdoor Learning Laboratory
Our school believes that it is every child's right to spend time outdoors each day. Children who experience regular outdoor play are happier, healthier, and in-tune with nature. According to Ohio Leave No child Inside Collaboratives, children who are in touch with their natural environment do better in school, have increased creativity and improved concentration. Our goal is to strengthen dispositions such as empathy, harmony, and respect for all forms of life. An ethic of caring encourages the idea of stewardship - our responsibility to care for the natural world. Long uninterrupted time in the outdoors provides the chance for children to develop strong relationships with each other, teachers, and the natural world.
After years of planning we officially opened our Outdoor Learning Laboratory on September 19, 2013. This area has elements of nature interwoven with man made spaces. The Outdoor Learning Laboratory affords opportunities for our children to engage in guided as well as unstructured experiences which instill a sense of wonder and curiosity.
