Raj Patel, author of the acclaimed book Stuffed and Starved: The Hidden Battle for the World Food System, was featured as part of the Guest of Honor University Artist/Lecture Series on October 22, 2013. Author

The Guest of Honor University Artist/Lecture Series hosted author Etgar Keret on April 24, 2013 for a lecture titled “The Dark and the Surreal: The Fiction of Etgar Keret.” Keret, who was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, is nationally acclaimed for his book The Nimrod Flipout (2006). The book contains 32 short stories that capture the crazy life of Israelis today.

Sept. 21, 2010: Anthony Rapp

Actor, Author

As part of the Guest of Honor University Artist/Lecture Series, Anthony Rapp presented "Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss and the Musical Rent" on Sept. 21, 2010. Rapp is best known for originating the role of Mark Cohen in the Tony Award-winning rock opera "Rent." He shared an OBIE (Off-Broadway Award) with the rest of the cast for their performance.

Oct. 17, 2012: Maya del Valle

Acclaimed Poet and Spoken Word Artist

Acclaimed poet and spoken word artist Mayda del Valle was featured as part of the Guest of Honor University Artist/Lecture Series on Oct. 17, 2012. Del Valle is the winner of the 2001 Nuyorican Grand Slam Championship and went on to win the 2001 National Poetry Slam Individual Championship. Del Valle is also the youngest person and first Latino to win the title.
