Keynote Speaker 2015

OBUG welcomes Clinton Oliver Longenecker as the keynote speaker.

Clinton Oliver Longenecker, is an award winning educator, is one of "America's leaders in the area of rapid performance improvement" and is a Distinguished University Professor and the Stranahan Professor of Leadership and Organizational Excellence in The College of Business and Innovation at The University of Toledo. His teaching, research and consulting interests are in high performance leadership and creating great organizations.  He has been the recipient of over forty (40) outstanding teaching, service and research awards and numerous industry awards including the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Toastmaster International Leadership Award, and The Jefferson Award for Outstanding Public Service,  and numerous "Best Professor" recognitions. In addition, he has also been recently recognized by The Economist as one of the Top Fifteen Business Professors in the World.

He has published over 180 articles and papers in leading academic and professional journals including the Sloan Management Review, Industrial Management, Business Horizons, European Business Review, and Organizational Dynamics among others. He is a frequent media source and his research has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Investor's Business Daily, MSNBC, NPR and a wide variety of media outlets. His best-selling book, Getting Results: Five Absolutes for High Performance describes the best practices of over 2,000 high performance managers and how they achieve outstanding performance and has been translated into nine languages. His latest book, published with Greg Papp and Tim Stansfield, Two-Minute Drill: Lessons for Rapid Organizational Improvement from America's Greatest Game chronicles the keys to rapid performance improvement from their research on over 1,000 organizational improvement initiatives. Clint is also featured in a number of educational videos including the award winning CRM training film "Effective Performance Appraisal" and "Continuous Improvement in Manufacturing" based on his research.

Clint is an active management consultant, educator and executive coach whose clients include a wide variety of Fortune 500 firms and entrepreneurial organizations including: Harley-Davidson, ConAgra, SSOE, ProMedica Health Systems, Whirlpool, Eaton Corporation, Cooper Tire, Dana Corporation, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and O-I Inc. among others. Clint has been described by Career Publications as, "one of the top motivational speakers in the U.S. who can blend cutting edge research, common sense, humor and conviction into a real and inspiring call for better performance that can help us all!" Dr. Longenecker has also served as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of the West Indies Barbados and has also lectured extensively in Poland, Hungary, and Russia. He holds a B.B.A. in marketing, an M.B.A. in management, both from the University of Toledo, and a Ph.D. in management from The Pennsylvania State University.

Clint is an active community servant, a committed member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and an active Bible study leader and Christian speaker.  He has spent extensive time working in the country of Haiti managing missionary school and hospital construction projects. Clint is very happily married to the former Cindy Breese and they have three children, Clinton Charles, Shannon Marie, and Stephen Lorenzo.

OBUG is excited to announce that Ms. Kari Branjord will be presenting several sessions at the upcoming conference.

As Vice President of Strategy & Product Management, Ms. Branjord is responsible for Ellucian's student systems, which include Banner, PowerCampus, Colleague, fsaAtlas, and Degree Works.  Since joining the company in January 2011, Ms. Branjord has actively worked on the evolution of the Banner Student system, successfully shepherding the initiatives around the four modules released so far:  Course Catalog, Class Schedule, Faculty Grade Entry, and Event Management. She is also working to unify the PowerCampus codebase so all customers, regardless of location, can benefit from the innovation that each unique country demands. 

Before coming to Ellucian, Ms. Branjord had thirteen years of experience in higher education.  At the University of Colorado system, she served as the executive director for the $55 Million student system replacement project and led a successful system-wide implementation of the PeopleSoft suite of products.  During that time she also served as the President of the Higher Education User Group for Oracle applications, representing 700 schools world-wide and advocating for advances in those systems.  As President, Kari organized communities in the United Kingdom, Europe, Southeast Asia, South Africa, and Australia and New Zealand.  She also began similar projects in Brazil and Latin America.  As IT Director at the University of Minnesota, Ms. Branjord was responsible for enterprise application functions in a complex, multi-institution organization.  While there, beginning in 1999, she also set the vision for and led the implementation of customized self-services applications, which generated a $2 million annual cost savings for the university.  Under her direction, the university's usability vision was fully realized, with the creation of a full usability lab that included state-of-the-art eye-tracking capability.  Ms. Branjord also has ten years of experience in the health care sector.
