Health Insurance and Immunizations
In order to protect KSU students and the campus community from communicable disease outbreaks, the University requires certain immunizations. Visit the University Health Services (UHS) website to find mandatory immunization requirements.
If you need an MMR immunization or TB test, please call UHS at 330-672-8278 to schedule an immunization appointment with a nurse. If you believe that your immunizations are up-to-date, you may call or e-mail UHS at 330-672-8242 or firstname.lastname@example.org for clarification.
Each international student is required to complete Medical History Form. If the student is less than 18 years of age, a parent must sign the “Consent, Release and Fee Responsibility Disclosure” portion of the Medical History Form. The student may not be treated without the parent’s signature. Students are also required to provide proof of immunizations: Mandatory Student Immunization Requirements Form.
Student Health Plan
The university offers a health plan which is specifically designed for all students, including international students. This plan may also be used to insure the dependents of a student. You are NOT obligated to purchase this plan. However, if you choose to obtain insurance from another source, you must ensure that your coverage meets the minimum requirements set by the United States government.
- $50,000 per accident/illness
- $10,000 for medical evacuation (return to home country)
- $7,500 for repatriation of remains
- A deductible not to exceed $500 per accident or illness
For information on alternative health plans visit NAFSA Resource Library.
REMEMBER: Medical care in the U.S. can be very expensive. All international students should carry medical insurance coverage at all times while enrolled at Kent State University.
