College of Public Health: Pathways to Public Health Careers in Public Health

The College of Public Health at Kent State University prepares students for careers in some of today's most exciting health fields: emergency management, disease investigation, health services administration, occupational health and safety, environmental risk assessment, global health, and many others.  We offer academic programs that provide a "Pathway to a Public Health Career" for students at all stages of their careers from entry and mid-level to senior management or advanced researcher.

Bachelor of Science in Public Health

For students just beginning their careers we offer the Bachelor of Science in Public Health (B.S.P.H.)  in seven concentration areas.  We also offer a 16-credit hour certificate and a minor in Public Health for non-public health majors.  Courses are available both online and on-campus.

Master of Public Health (M.P.H.)

For students who have completed their undergraduate degree and want to prepare for or advance their career in health management we offer the Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) in five specializations.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

For advanced students wanting to gain specialized research skills we offer the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in three specializations.

Study Abroad

Students can also experience public health globally in Geneva, Switzerland, Colombia, Argentina, and other international locations.  You can learn from experts around from the world and experience firsthand how public health is making a difference in the world.

Faculty

Our faculty have trained at some of the best universities in the U.S. and bring years of experience with them to the classroom and laboratory.  They welcome students to work alongside them on cutting-edge research projects in areas such as substance abuse prevention, environmental disease agents, health literacy and health systems change, violence prevention, injury prevention and sports injuries, chronic disease prevention, and a variety of other exciting research topics.

Students

Currently we have over 600 undergraduate students and over 120 graduate students pursuing Public Health degrees.  The Public Health Student Alliance is our student group that provides networking and service opportunities on-campus and in the local community.
