I'm ready for my Culminating Experience or Thesis. What should I do now?

Each student pursuing the Master of Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.) degree is required to complete one of the following options: LIS 60092 Culminating Experience Internship; LIS 60098 Culminating Experience Research Paper/Project: LIS 60199 Thesis; or LIS 60792 Culminating Experience Practicum in K-12 Libraries.

  • NOTE: LIS60092, 60098, and 60792 were previously offered as options under LIS60670, which is no longer available (starting Fall 2014).
  • Your choice should be made in consultation with your advisor, and should be based on your career or further study aspirations.
  • Discover some libraries and other information agencies that have offered practicum and internship opportunities to our M.L.I.S. students.
    • This list of previous internship/practicum sites includes organizations that regularly support our students completing a culminating experience. The Excel file can be sorted by geographic location.  Although these are not your only options for a practicum, this list is an excellent place to start looking for one. Again, consult with your advisor about your practicum options.

    • Many internship opportunities are also posted on the student listserv.
