Why hasn't my event appeared on the calendar?

Before an event appears on the calendar, it must be approved by University Communications and Marketing for content, spelling, grammar and AP style. You should submit an event at least a week before you want  it to appear on the calendar to ensure that UCM has plenty of time to review your event.

Why was my event rejected?

There are several reasons why an event could have been rejected. The most common reasons a submission will be rejected:
  • The submission isn't an event (no definitive time and place that people can attend)
  • No location is attached to the event
  • The event is not university related

What are FLASHperks and can my event be a FLASHperks event?

FLASHperks is a student incentive program where students can earn points toward prizes by attending events. This incentive program is run through the FLASHperks office, which can be contacted at flashperks@kent.edu.

How can I make sure my event appears in the RSS feeds?

RSS feeds are set by location and category. Some RSS feeds, like the one shown on the Athletics subsite, will only show events in the Athletics category on the Kent campus. Other feeds, such as the one on the Current Students web page will display multiple categories that are of interest to students. Since more categories are set to show in that RSS feed, it may be more difficult to get your event to appear there. See how UCM can help promote your event through electronic communication.

How do I get a Calendar Account?

If you plan on using the calendar more than 10 times a year, request a log in by emailing the UCM Webteam. We are limited to 50 accounts, so we can not give every department a log in and we ask that users within a department to share accounts (to keep us under 50 accounts and to ensure that events aren't entered twice). If an account is inactive for more than 6 months, it will be closed. You can re-open it by emailing the UCM Webteam.

Is there an Event Calendar Training Session I can attend?

The event calendar does not have a formal training program like CommonSpot, but you may email the UCM Webteam to schedule a one-on-one training session.
