Scholarships

The Wallace J. Hagedorn Scholarship

The largest single gift given to Kent State University will provide scholarships to Photo-Illustration majors in the School of Visual Communication Design. The scholarship donor, Wallace Hagedorn, took a photojournalism class at Kent State in 1941. Although Hagedorn nor his wife attended KSU, his experience within the class fueled a lifelong passion for photography. Hagedorn left a $3 million bequest to the university after his passing in 2013.

The Wallace J. Hagedorn Scholarship for VCD Photo-Illustration majors will be awarded each year to four students. An incoming freshman and one future sophomore, junior, and senior will each receive $5,000 to be applied to tuition, room and board, and fees.

To apply for The Wallace J. Hagedorn Scholarship, submit a complete application to:  KSU VCD Photo-Illustration Scholarships, Attn:  Jaime Kennedy, School of Visual Communication Design, 231 Art Building, P.O. Box 5190, Kent State University, Kent, Ohio 44242-0001 by March 6, 2015. Students eligible for the scholarships must be in good academic standing for fall 2015.
