For Help, Support and Assistance
Please visit the SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) website at www.kent.edu/SART to begin to access the help and support services our community has to offer you.
College campuses across the nation are facing a serious problem and unfortunately, the numbers do not lie. Nationally, women have a one-in-six statistical probability of being sexually assaulted and college women are four times as likely to be sexually assaulted as are other women. One in 6 men is sexually assaulted during his lifetime and about 3/4 of sexual assaults of college students involve alcohol use. Whether you are seeking help and support because you or a friend has been assaulted or you are a faculty or staff member trying to help a student, you have started in the right place.
SART (Sexual Assault Response Team)
Kent State is proud to announce a new safety initiative – the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). The SART was created to educate students about personal safety and violence prevention, to empower them to build healthier relationships, and to be responsive to students in need. Kent State University's Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) is a comprehensive, collaborative, and victim-centered response to sexual assault which includes prevention, education, and response/recovery components. The responsibility of the SART is to educate the university community about sexual assault, to provide anti-violence programming and support services, and to encourage all community members to speak out when witnessing violence.
Kent State University has been recognized by the FBI as having one of the safest campuses in the country. As an organization, we are committed to continually developing new and innovative ways to improve security on campus. We strive to build and maintain a safe and healthy community where all students can succeed. With your help, we can continue to provide a safe, healthy learning experience for all students at Kent State.
It is the hope of the SART membership that the SART website will be helpful to faculty, staff, and students who may be dealing with sexual assault or violence and are in need of services, education, or support.
