Welcome to the Department of Health Sciences at the Bouvé College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University! Our team of interdisciplinary faculty are dedicated to training the next generation of health professionals who will work collaboratively to improve the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities.
The Department of Health Sciences offers a Bachelor degree program in Health Science, a Master of Public Health, a Master of Science in Exercise Science, and a PhD in Population Health. We collaborate with the College of Computer and Information Science to offer a Master of Science in Health Informatics and PhD in Personal Health Informatics. Our programs provide undergraduate and graduate students with a solid foundational knowledge and professional skillset while supporting opportunities for personalized education to help students pursue their professional aspirations.
Our faculty have expertise in the fields of social and environmental determinants of health, mental health, behavioral health, environmental health, biostatistics, epidemiology, nutrition, exercise science, personal health informatics and computer human interactions, neurodevelopmental disorders, health disparities, population health, aging, health policy and law, and public health. Students have the opportunity to work with faculty in conducting leading research in these fields through cooperative education and experiential learning.
Faculty in the department teach and work closely with many other schools, centers, and departments in the University, including the Institute on Urban Health Research and Practice, the Center for Community Health Education Research and Service, the Social Science Environmental Health Research Institute, the Center for Health Policy and Healthcare Research, as well as community agencies and neighborhood health centers in the local Boston area.
