Chesterfield Smith Professor Michael W. Gordon has been appointed by Canada and the United States to a bi-national panel organized under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The case involves allegations by U.S. durum wheat producers that Canadian durum wheat exported to the U.S. was produced with the support of subsidies provided by the Canadian government in violation of NAFTA. The panel includes two Canadians and two other Americans, and hearings will be held in Washington, D.C. This is Gordon’s fourth appointment to a NAFTA panel, with previous cases dealing with Mexico and Canada.
