The Publix/Annex temporary Library will close on June 15, 2005.

“Our year at the former Publix supermarket in Butler Plaza is almost over and planning for the Legal Information Center’s return to Holland Hall is in high gear. Please see the following information regarding our move schedule, consider your research needs, and plan accordingly.

The first day of move activity will be Tuesday, June 14th, 2005. The first items likely affected will be the Legal Information Center’s videotape collection. All videos located at our Butler Plaza location will be boxed for the move and will not be available through the end of the Summer term.

Following June 14th, the movers will begin boxing books and journals at the Publix/Butler Plaza site and moving them to Holland Hall. The move schedule will mean that most books and journals will not be available during the move and there will be no study space available. We intend to keep the Reserve Desk/Circulation Desk open in Bruton-Geer Hall until the end of Summer exams to ensure the availability of old exams and books and other readings through the end of the Summer Law term (July 15).

The moving period between June 15 and July 15, 2005, will require that Legal Information Center users plan ahead and carefully consider what books, journals, and videos you might need during that mid-June to mid-July time and make arrangements to borrow them for the duration of the move. Staff will be working between the Publix/Annex and the new building during the period to expedite the move back to campus.

The Computer Lab at the Butler Plaza location and all other public activities will close at 5:00 p.m. on June 14th, to allow Legal Information Center Staff and the movers to prepare the 600,000 volume collection and staff work areas for the return to Holland Hall.

The Center is committed to do all we can to maintain services as long as we can under our moving circumstances but the aforementioned service interruptions should be noted and planned around by the Levin College of Law and UF communities.

Thank you for your support during this past academic year and for your patience as we prepare to move “home.” It has been a good year for us and we look forward to a grand opening of the new Lawton M. Chiles Legal Information Center by early August. Please call 392-0417 with any questions you may have about the contents of this letter or our upcoming move.

Thank you.”
